Dome Records began life in 1992. The label was formed, and continues to be run, by Peter Robinson, who had previously worked at major labels including MCA (Universal), CBS (Sony), RCA/BMG and Chrysalis, the last two as Head of A&R.
He began his working life as a journalist on the Brighton Argus daily newspaper, where he followed Anne Nightingale as the music reviewer.
Passionate about black music from a young age, his very first concert in London was a young Ray Charles with his big band and the Raelettes in 1963.
He found it an electrifying experience, and his love of black music has continued throughout a music career that has seen him working with such legends as Luther Vandross, Maurice White, The Emotions, Deniece Williams, the Jacksons, D-Train,
Bobby Womack , Jean Carn, The Isley Brothers , The Jones Girls and Michael Jackson
Since starting Dome he has taken Lulu back into the Top 20, discovered Beverley Knight, broken Hil St Soul onto the US Billboard R&B charts, given Rahsaan Patterson a new label home following his departure from MCA, and released two albums by the late George Duke. More recently he has introduced Europe to the talents of Jarrod Lawson and given Shaun Escoffery’s music career a stunning new lease of life.
