John Michael BIO:
John Michael has established himself as one of the premier singer/songwriters of the upcoming generation. Born in northeast Washington, D.C. and raised in Virginia, John Michael began writing at 16 years old. He has penned material for several distinguished producers who have worked with top artists such as Wale, Rick Ross, Lloyd, and Jay Sean.
This single father prides himself on putting out music that will remain timeless and undeniable to soul! John’s last release the “John Michael EP” which was released in Fall 2012 produced his hit song “Sophisticated Lady.” Sophisticated Lady was coined by USA TODAY (newspaper) intriguing tracks on the Playlist as being a laid-back R&B groove.
John Michaels hit single “Sophisticated Lady” also hit number 19 on the Urban AC Radio Charts where it remained for more than a year. Veering away from the disrespectful lyrics, John Michael wanted to uplift and show respect to women. The song became an instant hit in the R&B community. After the success of the project John released the remix to “Sophisticated Lady,” featuring critically acclaimed hip-hop artist Talib Kweli.
John Michael‘s latest single “Arrive” is starting to make buzz and is currently in radio rotation on I Heart Radio , Music Choice , XM ," Heart and Soul" and more to come…. John ‘s just released his full album “Sophisticated” which is currently climbing the R&B charts. John makes music so that his fans can connect his music to the reality of love and life.

John Michael is a 23 year old Washington DC –based soul singer and writer. His songs have been recorded by people like Rick Ross and Jay Sean and those names should give you an insight into John's own sound and intended audience... yes – he's one of R&B's new young Turks and the sound on 'Sophisticated' is the sound of modern R&B ... though without the edge or aggression that is sometimes associated with the genre. His approach is a gentle one. It might recall Joe, Donnel Jones or even Babyface in his early days. Hear his signature sound at its best on 'Sophisticated lady' – the song that hints at the album's title. It's mellow and slick with a sultry, laid back undertow and if you like it you'll be delighted because almost all the rest of the album's 15 cuts follow the same pattern. Sadly after a while that slow and very steady soundscape becomes wearing and I kept reaching for the skip button. Things like 'You Got It', 'Arrive' and 'Don't Know Anymore' were too similar to 'Sophisticated Lady' to win my attention. Sure, they might have a slightly different tempo – a tad faster or slower - but essenatlliy they're re-writes of that one good tune. There's a few ballads too – 'Only Thing Left' and 'Give Me All' amongst them but they lack focus and don't make any attempt to grab you in the way that classic soul music always does
