But certainly, 2011 was the year of her artistic outburst. On that same year, she released her first album, Burning, with the Brazilian producer Erico Moreira – an album that serves as the basis for Wake Up; a debut album with a fresh, updated and enriched sound. Wake Up – out on October 1st. - presents Burning's songs with new sounds and arrangements, thus roundong out a tracklist featuring three previously unreleased tracks.
In “Wake Up”, “We Are One”, and “Real Love,” her voice re-emerges brimming over with sensitivity. Together with these three new songs, the album features a refined revision of the songs that led her to become one of the breakout artists when she surprised everyone in the world of music with Burning.
Sara Pi was born in 1986 in a family that had been closely-related to music for generations. Her grand-father was an opera singer and her father was a Cuban tres player, so since she was a little girl she was exposed to a variety of musical influences. Before coming of age, Sara Pi had already been a member of several soul, funk, reggae and rhythm & blues bands. In 2008 she started to work with Erico Moreira and to sing his own compositions, in which he merged rythm & blues and soul with Brazilian melodies. Then Burning came, a unique and original project fusing together black music with the purest contemporary soul.
Sara has performed at the Palau de la Música, Apolo, Music Hall, Harlem Jazz Club, Jamboree Jazz Club, Lotus Club and Sidecar, among other venues, and she has taken part in festivals like the Mercat de Mùsica Viva Festival in Vic, and she has also been invited by the American singer-songwriter and showman Raúl Midón. Now it's time for her to show us Wake Up, her genuine calling card.
