About Sarah

 

Sarah Téibo is a welcome addition to the UK contemporary and urban gospel music scene. Inspired by such musical legends as Whitney Houston and Kim Burrell, Sarah has also carved out her own musical niche with a unique style that blends Neo Soul, R&B and Jazz with Gospel to create a soul stirring sound that is evident in her recently released album 'Walk With Me'.

 

The second of four children, Sarah was born in London, England but also had the privilege of growing up in Nigeria where she started singing in choirs from the age of ten. It was from this early age that it became evident that she was one to be heard and watched.

 

Her love for music was highly influenced by her parents’ taste in music and their rich vinyl collection which featured amongst others, Soul and R&B legends like Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross. She grew up listening to these phenomenal artistes and recalls memories of singing along to Marvin Gaye with her mom.

 

Through tumultuous experiences in her early teenage years where her family was faced with eviction and homelessness, Sarah learnt the importance of faith in God and started writing music to express both her fears and her faith. These proved a great source of strength through the most trying of times.

 

Described by one music critic as ‘truly amazing with a rich effortless vocal tone and great interpretation of melody’, Sarah brings a soulful flavour to the genre. Launching her solo career in November 2015 with the release of her debut single 'Steal My Joy' which received worldwide airplay, debuted at Number 2 on the UK Christian Charts in December 2015 and also bbagged her two nominations for 'Best Newcomer' with Premier Gospel Awards and GXMM Awards in 2016, she now takes it up a notch with the release of her debut album 'Walk With Me'. 

 

In this 11-track album which ranges from soulful, infectious numbers such as ‘New Day’ and ‘Special' to bouncing up-tempo tunes like 'I Will Sing!' and deeply inspiring tracks like ‘Keep The Faith’, she fuses her uniquely soulful yet contemporary style and powerful lyrics to produce a new and exciting sound which will introduce you to the 'dynamic force' that is Sarah Téibo.
