Founded by world renowned drummer Pete Ray Biggin (Incognito, Amy Winehouse, Level 42, Chaka Khan, Mark Ronson) and nominated 'Best Live UK Show' at the Jazz FM 2013 Awards, The PB UnderGround are a London-based funk sensation. There is no higher accolade in the soul-jazz-funk genre than being chosen to support the legendary Tower of Power, which The PBUG did for their recent sellout show at Koko. Having packed out renowned London venues - Jazz Café (London Jazz Festival), Pizza Express Jazz Club (Dean St, Soho), Pigalle Club, Cargo and Kensington Roof Gardens - The PBUG have released a new EP entitled 'Drums At The Front'. An obvious reference to dynamic bandleader Biggin's musical weaponry of choice, the album features power-packed tracks with guest vocals from Tony Momrelle (Incognito), Brendan Reilly (Basement Jaxx), Imaani (Incognito), Daniel Pearce (Dizzee Rascal), Vanessa Haynes, Patrick Alan and rising Hip-Hop/Rap star M.O.D.

 

The PBUGʼs handpicked rhythm and horn sections are comprised of London's finest session players, all experienced funk touring and recording artists of the highest calibre.

 

Pete Ray Biggin features in drummerworld.comʼs 'World's Best Drummers' and was among eight finalists in 'The Worldʼs Greatest Drummer' concert at Warwick Arts Centre. Biggin also recently appeared in the Princeʼs Trust Rock Gala at The Royal Albert Hall with Joss Stone, Alison Moyet, Cerys Matthews, Boy George, Nik Kershaw and Midge Ure.Already recognised as a phenomenal drummer, Pete Ray Biggin is also a gifted bandleader, songwriter and arranger and The PBUG set list packs a contemporary punch without sacrificing any of the classic funk flavours.
